If your Genki insurance has been terminated because a monthly payment couldn't be collected, this article explains what that means for your account and what your next steps are.
π What termination for non-payment means
When a monthly payment fails and isn't resolved within the retry window, the insurance contract is terminated. From that point on:
Your coverage ends as of the last day of the period you successfully paid for.
Any treatment received after that date is not covered under your Genki insurance.
The open invoice from the unpaid period still has to be settled, even though the contract has ended.
Your account is blocked from creating a new sign-up until the matter is reviewed.
For details on how to avoid termination when a payment fails, see What happens if your payment fails?.
π© If you'd like to request a review
If your contract was terminated for non-payment and you'd like the situation reviewed, please contact our support team. We'll ask a few questions to understand what happened, including:
The reason the payment was missed
Whether the payment reminder emails were received
Each case is reviewed individually. We can't confirm in advance whether reinstatement will be possible β it depends on the specific circumstances of your case.
To start the review, contact us by chat or email at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).
β οΈ A note on what reinstatement involves
If your case is approved for reinstatement:
The open invoice will still need to be settled before your contract can be reactivated.
Reinstatement is not automatic and is handled by our team manually.
Reinstatement is treated as an exceptional measure rather than a standard process.
If reinstatement is not possible, you may want to consider whether a different Genki product fits your current needs. Note that any new contract is subject to the standard terms, including the rules around pre-existing conditions and waiting periods. For Genki Traveler customers specifically, see What happens when your Genki Traveler insurance ends, and how to continue coverage.
π‘ Avoiding payment failures in future
If you're setting up a new contract, or if your current one is back on track after a failed payment, a few simple habits help prevent the same situation:
Keep your card details up to date in the Member Center, especially after a bank reissues your card. See How to update your payment method for the steps.Make sure the card has enough funds available a few days before your monthly billing date
If your bank applies security checks or limits on recurring international payments, ask them to whitelist Genki
Respond promptly to any failed-payment email before the retry window closes
