Medical treatment
Medical treatment while sailing or on a cruise is covered worldwide
Treatment can be provided onboard or on land, as long as it is medically necessary, performed by a doctor, and properly documented
Emergency medical transport
Transport by ambulance to the nearest hospital capable of treating your condition is covered when medically necessary, in a medical emergency or with prior approval
An ambulance can be a road, air, water, or rail vehicle equipped to provide immediate medical treatment
There is no specific limit for covered ambulance transport. Costs count toward your overall coverage limit (€1,000,000 with Basic, €3,500,000 with Premium).
🚨 Search & Rescue (Important)
Search and rescue operations are not covered. This includes:
Rescue missions at sea, including in deep sea
Any operation where a trained team must be deployed to locate or retrieve you in a remote or hazardous environment
If a rescue team must be dispatched to locate or retrieve you at sea, the rescue operation is not covered. Once you have been rescued, medically necessary ambulance transport and treatment are covered as described above.
🌍 USA & Canada Restrictions
Canada: no special restrictions. Canada is covered like any other country. If Canada is one of your countries of nationality, the country of nationality rules apply.
USA: coverage is limited to a Medical Emergency that begins within 91 days of arrival, after at least 91 consecutive days outside the USA.
A 3-month waiting period applies.
Coverage continues until you are Fit to Travel, plus the following 10 days.
Limits: €250,000 (Basic) or €500,000 (Premium) per insurance year.
