How to update your personal details

✏️ Keeping your name, contact details, and account information up to date

Written by Pedro

You can update some personal details directly from the Member Center. For other changes, you'll need to contact our support team. This article explains which is which.

✅ Details you can update yourself

The following details can be updated at any time from the Member Center, under Your Data:

  • Email address (the one used to log in and receive notifications)

  • Phone number

To make a change:

1️⃣ Log into the Member Center.

2️⃣ Go to Your Data.

3️⃣ Edit the field you'd like to change.

4️⃣ Save your changes.

If you have multiple people insured under your account, make sure you've selected the right person from the dropdown at the top of the page before making changes — each person has their own details.

📧 Changing your email address

Your email address is the one you use to log into the Member Center and the one used to send you all communications, including invoices, payment notifications, and certificates.

  • You can change it from Your Data → Email address.

  • After changing it, future notifications will go to the new email.

  • Past communications remain in the inbox of the email address you used at the time they were sent.

If you've lost access to the email address registered with your account and can't log in, contact our support team and we'll help you regain access.

📱 Changing your phone number

Your phone number is used for account verification and, in some cases, to contact you about your contract.

  • You can change it from Your Data → Phone number.

  • After changing it, you may be asked to verify the new number by entering a code sent via SMS.

If you don't receive the verification SMS, check that the country code is correct, that the number is entered without spaces or special characters, and that your phone has signal. If you still don't receive it, contact our support team and we can help complete the change.

📩 Changes that require contacting support

The following changes aren't currently available through the Member Center — please contact our support team for any of these:

  • Name (including spelling corrections and legal name changes — proof may be required for the latter)

  • Date of birth (corrections to typos, if needed)

  • Home country (Genki Traveler only)

A note on Genki Traveler home country specifically: it's locked when the contract begins. If your circumstances have genuinely changed and your home country needs to reflect that, the only available path is usually to cancel your current contract and start a new one, which is subject to a new 14-day waiting period and the standard pre-existing condition rules. For more on starting a new contract, see What happens when your Genki Traveler insurance ends, and how to continue coverage.

A note for Genki Native customers on country of nationality: this is established at sign-up based on your legal status at the time, not something you select by preference. It can't be changed, because it reflects an objective fact about you at the time the contract started. If your nationality changes during your contract (for example, you naturalize in a new country), your contract terms remain based on your nationality at sign-up. You can still update your citizenship information in your profile, but this doesn't affect your coverage.

⚠️ A few things to keep in mind

  • Updating contact details doesn't change your billing, your premium, or your coverage in any way. For more on how billing works, see Understanding your invoices, billing date, and renewal cycle.

  • The Member Center may ask you to re-confirm your identity after certain changes, to protect your account.

  • If you have multiple people under your account, changes you make apply only to the person currently selected. To update details for another person, switch them using the dropdown at the top of the Member Center.
