Both the Genki Explorer and the Genki Resident have the same processes if you need to use your insurance to cover any medical costs. 🏥

There is no specific network of doctors you need to choose from. You can choose any doctor, clinic, or hospital in the world by yourself. Public or private.

You do not need to show any documents or insurance cards to the doctor during your consultation. Why?

There are two options in terms of how to get your medical costs paid for any type of doctor visit, tests, or examinations that do not require you to stay overnight at the hospital:

  • If you choose the doctor/clinic by yourself (you’re completely free to choose your favorite doctors near you) you will need to pay all the expenses upfront and keep the invoices and medical reports (the documents must include information about the diagnosis, treatment, period of treatment, and cost). After, you can access our Member Center under “Compensation” and follow the instructions to submit a claim for the payment of your medical costs directly to your bank account.

  • If you need help finding a doctor at your location or prefer a telemedicine consultation instead of an in-person consultation, you can use the Air Doctor app. Air Doctor will allow you to find local doctors in almost all countries worldwide to schedule outpatient visits and follow-up examinations and treatment for many different specialties, not only general practitioners. You can also book telemedicine consultations in multiple languages and get prescriptions from local doctors online. The best part? Any consultations booked through the Air Doctor will be paid directly by us to the clinic or doctor, so you don’t have to pay the costs upfront and file any claims for reimbursement.

The local offer of doctors and clinics will change by location.

Take note that if you have insurance with a €50 deductible (Genki Explorer) the deductible will be deducted from the total amount of your bills corresponding to a single claim. Meaning, the 50€ deductible is only applied once per insurance, so you won’t have to pay €50 for each medical visit related to the same treatment.

The deductible applies for consultations booked with or without the Air Doctor app.

You can find the online claim form and instructions on how to file a claim in the Member Center under "Compensation".

How to install and pair the Air Doctor app:

  1. Download the Air Doctor App

  2. Sign up for the App (You can use your Google, Apple, or Facebook accounts to register in the app)

  3. Set up your account with your data (Use the same full name as in your insurance policy).

  4. Add your policy number.

After signing up, you can find the instructions and your policy number in the Member Center under "Air Doctor".

The Air Doctor app can only be used together with your insurance after the initial 14-day waiting period as all booking options through the app are reserved for outpatient treatments.

Do I still need to pay a deductible while using the Air Doctor app?

  • If you have insurance with a deductible you will pay your deductible via the app by credit card.

  • The deductible is also applied to telemedicine consultations.

  • The amount is only charged once you see the doctor.

If you do have insurance with a €50 deductible, you only have to be charged once per insurance case. If you have any follow-up consultations, or any tests or examinations, after the original consultation, you will be asked after the follow-up consultation is finished if that consultation was a follow-up to a previous consultation or not. Please click yes if the consultation is related to any previous treatments and/or consultations booked previously through the Air Doctor app.

How to add more family members or policies to my Air Doctor account?

  1. In the account overview select "My Coverage".

  2. Click on "Add Coverage".

  3. Enter the data of the additional members

  4. You'll see the overview of all the added policies.

  5. On the start page, select the intended insurance to be used.

  6. The name of the insured person is then shown on the right.

If you have any questions about what is covered by the Genki Explorer you can check the article: "What is covered (and not covered) by the Genki Explorer?".

For emergency hospital overnight stays (inpatient visits) and planned surgeries please check our article: "I have a hospital emergency. Who should I contact?".

Please, if the treatment does not require hospitalization do not contact the emergency assistance and follow the procedures described in this article.
