What Sports are covered and excluded

Almost all sports and activities are covered by Genki Traveler! However, to ensure you're fully covered, you must meet the specific conditions for each sport or activity. Below is a summary of what's covered, excluded, and important details you should keep in mind.


โœ… Covered Activities

๐Ÿง— Climbing

  • Up to 5,500 meters with proper fall protection (ropes, harnesses).

๐Ÿšด Cycling & Mountain Biking

  • Covered for recreational riding (not extreme downhill or risky jumps).

  • Helmet not required for coverage (but itโ€™s highly recommended for safety!).

๐Ÿคฟ Diving

  • Covered up to 30 meters if certified (e.g., BSAC, PADI, NAUI, SSI).

  • You can dive with a certified instructor or guide.

๐Ÿฅพ Hiking, Trekking & Mountaineering

  • Covered up to 5,500 meters.

  • Not covered if the route requires specialized climbing or mountaineering equipment or fixed cables.

๐Ÿฅ‹ Martial Arts & Combat Sports

  • Covered for training, sparring, friendly fights, and self-defense.

๐Ÿš— Motor Vehicle Operation

  • Covered for regular driving, including recreational use and go-kart racing.

  • Not covered for race training or unsupervised off-road driving.

๐Ÿ๏ธ Motorcycles

  • Helmet required for drivers (recommended for passengers).

  • You must have a valid driverโ€™s license for the vehicle if legally required.

  • You are covered without a valid license for motorcycles with an engine of 250cc or less.

  • Always recommend proper driving training. ๐Ÿšฆ

๐Ÿช‚ Parachuting, Paragliding & Skydiving

  • Covered if done with a licensed instructor, certified equipment, and in compliance with safety regulations.

  • Covered for recreational sailing in coastal and international waters.

  • Racing is not covered.

๐ŸŽฟ Skiing & Snowboarding

  • Covered on marked trails but not for off-piste, heli-skiing, or heli-snowboarding.

  • Covered, but not for big-wave surfing, tow-in surfing, or in extreme weather conditions.


โŒ Excluded Activities

  • Alligator wrestling, BASE jumping, bull riding, hunting, and more extreme activities.

  • Professional sports: If youโ€™re paid for your sport (salary, sponsorships, etc.), itโ€™s not covered.

  • Other excluded activities: Any activities not listed above are excluded.

  • Safety Guidelines: Always make sure to follow safety guidelines for the activity to be covered.

  • Other Sports: You are covered for all sports & activities not explicitly listed here, as long as they donโ€™t fall under the exclusions.

โ“ What Does "Professional" Mean?

  • If you receive monetary compensation for your sport (salary, sponsorships, etc.), your activity is considered professional and not covered.

  • Amateur sports: If you participate as an amateur, you are covered, even if you're competing in events, as long as itโ€™s not a professional contract.

  • You are still covered if you participate in competitions and win a prize, as long as the prize is not linked to a professional contract. ๐ŸŽ–๏ธ
