When does it start and what do I need to know

Yes, you can start your Genki Traveler insurance even if you’ve already started your trip or are already living outside your home country. Genki Traveler is designed for digital nomads and frequent travelers.

  • Global Coverage: No country restrictions—travel to any country and remain covered, excluding home country limitations.

  • No Time Limit Per Country: Stay in any country as long as you want (within the 1-year maximum contract period).

⚠️ Important Limitations When Starting Your Insurance

  • Pre-existing Conditions Exclusion: Any pre-existing conditions will not be covered. This includes medical conditions treated or diagnosed in the year before your insurance start date.

🌍 General Coverage

  • Worldwide Coverage: You can travel to any country with Genki Traveler, excluding the limitations for home country coverage.

  • Medical Emergencies: Full coverage for medically necessary treatments related to new illnesses or accidents.

  • Emergency Transport: Covered for necessary ambulance transport to the nearest suitable medical facility.

💡 Key Benefits

  • Hospitalization: Inpatient stays are covered, and hospitals will directly bill Emergency Assistance.

  • Doctor Consultations: Covered for consultations, tests, procedures, and prescribed medications.

  • Surgery: Covered when medically necessary, including prescribed surgeries.

  • Repatriation: If medically necessary, repatriation to your home country is covered (coordinated by Emergency Assistance).

  • Dental Care: Emergency dental treatment for injuries, covered up to €1,000 per insurance case.

  • Physiotherapy: Covered for up to 6 prescribed sessions per insurance case.

  • Sports & Activities: Coverage for recreational sports and activities like hiking, cycling, skiing, and more, with certain conditions.


🛑 Exclusions

  • Pre-existing conditions: Not covered if diagnosed or treated within the year before starting the insurance.

  • Elective or preventive treatments: Not covered, including routine check-ups or vaccinations.

  • Mental Health & Maternity: Not covered under Genki Traveler.

  • Cosmetic procedures: Not covered.


🏷️ Deductible

  • €50 deductible: You pay the first €50 for any claims, and after that, the insurer reimburses the covered costs.

Coverage Period

  • Maximum Coverage Period: Up to 1 year.

💰 Maximum Coverage Limit

  • €1,000,000: The overall coverage limit for your insurance case.


⚠️ Home Country Coverage

  • Limited to 6 weeks:

    • Coverage applies only to medical emergencies that start within 6 weeks of your arrival in your home country.

    • You must have been outside your home country for at least 4 weeks before returning to qualify for coverage.

    • If you’re in the USA or Canada as your home country, the 6-week coverage limitation applies separately in each of these countries.

14-Day Waiting Period

  • During the first 14 days, coverage is limited to medical emergencies.

  • If you are still in your home country when the insurance starts, you can skip the waiting period.

  • Coverage will begin once you leave your home country.
