Most international health insurance plans, including Genki Native, allow you to add a deductible to help reduce your monthly premium.

What is a deductible?

A deductible is the amount you agree to pay out of pocket per insurance year for eligible outpatient medical expenses before the insurance starts covering costs.

This means the deductible accumulates over the course of the insurance year and does not reset per visit or per claim.

How it works (example):

  • You incur €300 in outpatient medical costs → you pay €300

  • Later in the same insurance year, you incur another €400 → you pay €200 (reaching the €500 deductible)

  • Any additional eligible outpatient costs for the rest of the insurance year are covered by the insurer, according to the policy conditions

Choosing a higher deductible typically results in a lower monthly premium, while a lower deductible means higher premiums but less out-of-pocket cost during the year.

🔧 Deductible options

  • €1,000 per insurance year

  • €500 per insurance year

  • €0 (no deductible)

📌 When does the deductible apply?

  • Deductibles apply only to outpatient care

  • Inpatient care (hospitalizations) is fully covered and not subject to a deductible

🔄 Can I change my deductible?

You can change your deductible only at the start of a new insurance year. Once selected, it applies for the full 12-month insurance period and cannot be changed mid-year.
