Please note that Genki is unable to provide an upfront cost approval as we do not have the legal authorization. DR-WALTER, our managing partner responsible for claims, reviews each case and confirms coverage only after assessing all required information. This is why the claim system exists.

Our policy covers treatments for new and acute illnesses and accidents during your insurance period, including medically necessary treatments. “Medically necessary” means that the treatment is required to diagnose or treat your condition, is consistent with your diagnosis and symptoms, represents the most appropriate level of care, and is performed for an appropriate duration.

For outpatient treatments, it is standard for the insured person to pay upfront. After your treatment, you will receive an invoice from your doctor that should include:

  • Your name

  • The diagnosis

  • A detailed breakdown of the medical services provided

  • The treatment costs

For exceptional cases where you have all the necessary documentation before treatment, you can contact DR-WALTER’s claims team at [email protected]. However, they cannot confirm coverage until they have reviewed all the required data—and in most cases, not all the necessary documentation is available before treatment.

There are a few additional points to consider regarding treatment coverage:

  • Review Your Policy: Carefully review the Product Information and Consumer Conditions for Genki Explorer in our Member Center.

  • Common Exclusions: Coverage in your chosen home country is limited, and pre-existing conditions and preventive care are not covered.

  • Pre-Approval Requirements: No pre-approval is needed before treatment except for planned surgeries. In the case of a hospital overnight stay or surgery, you must contact the 24/7 emergency assistance as early as possible. Please note, that this does not mean the treatment is automatically covered—it simply means you don't need to contact us before seeing your doctor. DR-WALTER will determine whether the costs can be reimbursed once you submit your claim.
